Off-leash recreation is at risk!

SB City Council to Finalize OFF-LEASH Decisions

Santa Barbara City Council will vote on the fate of off-leash recreation on Tuesday, March 30. If you want to continue to walk your dogs off-leash on the Douglas Family Preserve and the beach, you need to tell the City Council now! Write, fax, or e-mail them (see reverse) to let them know how important off-leash recreation is to you.

And – most important of all – attend the Council meeting!

6 p.m., March 30, City Hall, De la Guerra Plaza

(Please confirm date/time and note that speaker slips need to be filled out BEFORE this time at the meeting, so come early -- or let us know so we can put in a speaker slip for you.)

Santa Barbara City Council will make the final decision about off-leash recreation at the Douglas Family Preserve and the beach area from Arroyo Burro to Shoreline Park. If you don’t speak up, you may lose the right to walk your dogs off-leash in the city of Santa Barbara forever, or even see dogs BANNED from these spaces altogether.

Dog PAC, SB has worked for 7 long years for this moment! WE NEED YOU NOW! Show the City Council, as taxpayers and their constituents, that we want them to establish and maintain LEGAL off-leash dog areas that have been loved and used by families and their pets for decades. There are 56 parks without legal off-leash recreation, isn’t it time to establish a few for legal off-leash use? This is our last chance to make a difference!

DogPAC is planning a rally before the meeting to publicly demonstrate support, at 5:00pm in De la Guerra Plaza, just outside City Hall

Check this Web site often for updates.

Don't let City Council take the only public off-leash area in the city of Santa Barbara away from us!

More information on the meetings, as it becomes available, can be found at the Santa Barbara City Government web page, at http://www.ci.santa-barbara.ca.us/departments/mayor_and_council/ or call the City Clerk's Office at 564-5309. Or, check our website www.dogpacsb.org

If you cannot attend in person, please send written or e-mail comments to the Mayor and City Council members, ideally by March 23 – however, be aware that you can contact them up until March 29.
