The Dog Days of Summer are Here!!
Who

Dog PAC, Elings Park, the Elings Park Dog Owners Group (EPDOG), and the SB Flyers are co-hosting the 2nd Annual Dog Days of Summer, a celebration of responsible dog ownership!

What

Bring your family and well-behaved dog (note that you do NOT need an Elings Park dog tag for this event!) for a lovely day in Elings Park (formerly Las Positas Park). Events include a flyball tournament, beer and wine garden, photo opportunities for you and your Best Friend with renowned professional photographer, Bill Boyd, several dog-related vendors, micro-chipping for your dog, fabulous raffle prizes, therapy and assistance dogs... And be sure to catch the Silliest/Funniest Dog contest -- judged, once again, by Santa Barbara's own Deborah Samuels, author of Dog and Pup.

When

Saturday August 2nd, from 11 am to 4 pm -- The Silliest/Funniest Dog Contest will be held from 2:00-2:30, and Dog PAC will present a brief program on Off-Leash Readiness following that event. Dog PAC's Annual Meeting and Election will commence at 3:00, to be followed by the raffle drawing at 3:30.

Where

The soccer fields at Elings Park, off Las Positas Drive in Santa Barbara. Drive up the hill to park.

DeTails

We are thrilled to have the services of Dr. Dawson, San Roque Veterinary Clinic, as our Emergency Vet for this occasion. If you need a vet, come to the Dog PAC booth. Baby pools and water bowls will be provided for your dog's comfort, as well.

Dog PAC will also award the first annual Best Friends Award to public servants who most fully represent the needs of tax-paying dog-owners for off-leash open space. This year we will award Rick Wheeler, Director, County Parks, and Suzanne Perkins, County Parks Commissioner, a commemorative brick at Elings Park for their on-going sensitivity and advocacy of the needs for off-leash open spaces in our county.

Last but not least, Dog PAC will hold its 7th Annual Members Meeting and Election of Officers. The Board has nominated the following members to serve as officers for the 2003-2004 term, and we will gladly accept any nominations from the floor as well:

Gwen Gallagher, President
Michelle Holmes, Vice President
Donna O'Toole, Secretary
Miriam Metzger, Treasurer

Board members: past presidents Andrew Flanagin and Mary Anne Morrison, Lisa Kelly (environmental and Big Dog Parade liaison), Teresa Rounds (Web-Mistress), Deanna Lancaster (liaison for veterinary issues), and Kristi Solberg (vendors and t-shirts). Mary Anne additionally is Vice-President of CalDog, the state Off-Leash Advocacy Coalition, as well as a Board member of Elings Park.
